Barnfield Colts
were the St Albans opponents in the final, and the home side took a
quick lead with Jack McNamara flicking home a Dominic Watkins drive
to send the keeper the wrong way. The lads comfortably played out
the rest of the match to win the
trophy to add to the Herts Inter-league,
County Cup and Red Division titles, which was
presented by former St Albans City Youth and current Peterborough
United player Craig Mackail-Smith.
Under 11's
The St Albans
'A' squad drew 0-0 in their first match in Group 'A' against
Leverstock Green, in their second match they beat London Colney 2-0
with both goals coming from Hugo Harding. In their third match they
had another draw, this time 1-1 against Knebworth, with a goal from
Conor McGowan, they then beat Headstone Manor 1-0 with Harding
scoring another goal.. Playing Flamstead in their final match they
drew 0-0 to finish unbeaten in the group and earning a quarter final
place. In the quarter final they lost 3-0 to Headstone Manor 'B'
after extra time with Charlie Halls scoring a great hat-trick.
Leverstock Grean finished top of the group with 11 points.
In group 'B' the
'C' squad finished in second place with three wins, firstly a 1-0
win over Luton Borough with Andy Cox scoring. This was followed by a
2-0 win over Belmont with goals from Noah Grisenthwaite and Gus
Mallet, plus a 3-0 victory over Wheathampstead Tigers with
Grisenthwaite scoring two goals and the third coming from Morgan
Williams. They then lost 3-1 against Watford Youth Sports with
Grisenthwaite scoring their only goal of the match. This was
followed by a 2-0 defeat against group winners Letchworth Clarets
who finished on 13 points.
In the Quarter
Finals the 'C' Squad lost 2-0 to Knebworth Youth 'A; with goals from
George Ironton and Jack Vasey. Letchworth Clarets won their Quarter
Final 3-0 against Cuffley.
The 'B' Squad
played in Group 'D', in their first match they lost 1-0 to Cuffley,
then 3-1 to Letchworth Clarets with Luke Ferdinand scoring. They
then lost 4-2 to Headstone Manor but in their final match they beat
London Colney 1-0.
Leverstock
Green, in the fourth Quarter Final beat Cuffley Youth 2-0.
In the Semi
Final Headstone Manor with a goal from Tom Heffernan won 1-0 against
Leverstock Green, in the other Semi Knebworth beat Letchworth 3-0
with goals from George Ironton, Bobby Le Fevre and Ian Rees.
The final was
played between Headstone Manor and Knebworth with Knebworth winning
4-3 on penalties after extra time.
Under 10's
The City Youth
'A' Squad drew 0-0 in their opening match against Welwyn Pegasus. In
their second game the drew 2-2 against London Colney Colts with
goals from Daniel Gooding and Sofiane Alakhal. In their third match
they beat Bury Rangers 4-0 with Brad Kelly-Keener scoring a Hat
Trick. They then drew 0-0 with group winners Wheathampstead
Pumas but in their last game they lost 4-0 to St Albans Rangers.
In Group 'C' a
goal from Chris Litchfield earned the 'B' Squad a 1-1 draw against
Wheathamstead Tigers. They then had two 0-0 draws against Tring
Tornadoes and St Albans Rangers. They then lost 2-1 after a close
game against Bury Rangers with the goal coming from Jack Collard. In
their last match they lost 3-1 to Little Gaddesden with Saul Beels
scoring.
The third City
Youth Under 10's Squad ('C') were in Group 'D', they lost three
matches, first 2-0 against Welwyn Pegasus, then 2-0 against Little
Gaddesden and 5-0 against group winners AFC Dunstable. This
was followed by a 0-0 draw against Flamstead and finally a 2-1
victory over Tring Tornadoes with two goals from Callum Glennister.
In the Semi
Finals Little Gaddesden won 2-0 against AFC Dunstable with goals
from Chris Cullen and James Cullimore. In the other Semi a great hat
trick from Richard Butler saw Watford Youth beat Wheathamstead Pumas
3-0.
Little Gaddesden
won the Final with Chris Cullen scoring the only goal against
Watford Youth.
Under 9's
After a close
game the City Youth 'B' Squad lost 1-0 to Flamstead Youth and 3-0 to
Tring Tornadoes. They then drew 0-0 with Sherradswood and also drew
0-0 with Headstone Manor.
The Under 9's
'A' Squad lost their first match in Group 'D' 2-1 to Wodson Park
with Hugo Harding scoring for the Saints. They were then held to a
0-0 draw against Letchworth Garden City Eagles. A goal from Joe
Lowthian gave the 'A' Squad a 1-0 win over Wheathamstead whilst in
their next match they beat London Colney 2-0 with goals from Alex
Levy and Hugo Harding. Harding also scored in the 3-1 win over Comet
Sports with further goals from Joe Lowthian and Max Bull.
The Semi Final
between Letchworth and Comet Sports saw Letchworth win 3-1 with
goals from Marcus Gillham 2 and Cameron Ward. Rowan Hill scored for
Comet's. In the other Semi Final Stevenage beat Sherradswood 3-1 on
penalties after a 0-0 draw.
The Under 9's
Final finished 1-1 with Lee Northfield scoring for Letchworth and
Harry Swanston for Stevenage. The match then went to penalties with
Letchworth winning 3-1.
Girls
Tournament
Under 13's
In their first
match the Under 13's Girls played Hayes Gate with Amy Farmer scoring
all the goals in a 4-0 victory.
Their second
match was against Potters Bar, this time Hayley ladd scored a Hat
trick in a 5-0 win, with the other goals coming from Sami May.
Hayley Ladd
setup Abigail Kemball-Cook to score the first of her two goals as
the Under 13's Girls defeated St Albans Rangers 2-1. Next they
played Hatfield Legion Belles 'A' and won 4-1 with goals from Juliet
parker 2, Abigail Kemball-Cook and Amy Farmer. In their final match
they played Hatfield's 'B' team and won 2-0 with goals from Hayley
Ladd and Abigail Kemball-Cook to win the tournament with five wins
and 17 goals scored.
Under 12's
In the Under
12's Age Group City Youth field two teams with the 'B' team winning
the group to take the trophy, the 'A' team finished in fifth place.
The 'B' Squad
played Bedwell and won 3-1 with Megan Cockhill scoring two fine
goals plus one from Clara Ryan. They then played their club mates
the 'A' team and lost 2-1 despite a late rally when Clara Ryan
pulled a goal back. Holly Palfrey and Stephanie Allen scored for the
'A' team. The 'B' team then went on to win 2-0 over Enfield Town
ladies with two goals from Megan Cockhill. In their fourth match
they beat Hitchin Town belles 2-0 with goals from Clara Ryan and
Nadia Hossen.
In their final
match they had to win to take the trophy and they finally defeated
Hemel Hempstead 1-0 with Megan Cockhill scoring.
The Under 12's
'A' had a 1-0 victory over Enfield Town Ladies with Stephanie Allen
scoring. After their win over the 'B' team they suffered two defeats
in the next three matches going down 1-0 against Hemel Hempstead and
2-0 to Hitchin Town belles. They then had a 0-0 draw against
Bedwell.
Under 11's
The newly formed
Under 11's team played four matches , but unfortunately they lost
them all. However they did find a young star in the Player of the
Tournament Lorna Gear, the goal keeper who made a string of great
saves during the tournament..
The winners of
the Under 11's Age group were Harvesters with three wins and one
draw, scoring 18 goals and conceding only one.
