For the
third time in four years, St Albans City Youth FC has picked up the
Hertfordshire Football Associations award as the top Charter Standard
Club in the county.
The FA
Community Club Award
The FA
Community Club award is the pinnacle of the club development
accreditation scheme and these clubs have more than 10 teams, are active
within the local community, and have links or exit routes for their
players into senior clubs. In addition, clubs provide football for boys
and girls who play mini soccer and 11-a-side games and importantly they
have a 3-5 year development plan for the club.
The FA Charter Standard scheme is a benchmark for
quality,
and is awarded to
clubs who have satisfied the criteria as laid out by The FA. Clubs have
to demonstrate that they have a constitution, hold regular meetings,
have a child protection policy, all members are CRB checked, they have
codes of conduct for players, parents and club officials and the coaches
are FA qualified.

In
addition, city youth girls team manager Ian Jardine not only picked up
the Charter Standard Club Coach Award but also the prestigious Football
Workforce award for his contribution towards the development of girls
football in St Albans. The Herts FA have also put Ian forward for
consideration for the regional and national football workforce awards.
The
Football Workforce awards are presented in recognition of the
outstanding work that goes into making football happen every week around
the county.
A
representative for City Youth said “for the club to be recognised by the
games governing body is something all members of the club and the people
of St Albans should be proud off. In addition the club is very pleased
that Ian Jardine’s contribution to local football has been recognised”.
