St Albans City Yth Disability Team

v

Hitchin Town Disability Team

Sponsored by:

We are very grateful to our sponsors. In particular, The Borras Group who have sponsored today’s game and Sports Relief who have paid for our training equipment, coaching courses and for subsidising our travelling costs to our forthcoming away fixtures.

We would also like to thank Mr Kerry Pollard, former St Albans member of parliament for his continued support.

A big thank you from all of our players, without your support this game today would not be possible.

Hitchin Town Disability Team

Hitchin Town Disability Team started in 2005 following a soccer day in Hatfield.  Coaching Clinics run by the young but wonderfully patient and talented Kieran Fox have helped progress the talents of the players with enormous amounts of support from Mark Burke at Hitchin Town FC.

Liam Doherty's admirable lieutenants at Adult Care Services have provided enthusiasm, skill, support, transport and encouragement led by Jan Gates and Derek Barker with Roger O'Dell close at hand.

North Herts People First joined the partnership in October and have helped with fund raising for kit and gaining publicity for the project.

The team have now played four matches winning the last three.  Matches have been against Stotfold FC, Butterwicks and Balmoral Hornets.

We are honoured to be the guests of St Albans City Youth for their first game and look forward to the new league later in the year supported by Beds and Herts FA.

The Saints entertained Hitchin Town, with the score at half time being only 2-1.  Man of the match for the home side John Riggins scored two first half goals whilst John Filby replied for Hitchin in the first half. The second half saw an end to end match with City Youth scoring three late goals to win the match 6-2. In the second half Joe Strohm hit two goals for St Albans along with Thomas Ward and Paul Spink, with Andrew Wells netting for the visitors.
