The youngsters progressed out of the group of death with wins over Echoes (2-0),
Harvesters (1-0) and a much fancied Hadley Wood team (2-0) before hiccupping
against Riverside Hibs (1-2), with Jack McNamara (2), Oliver Marjarom (2),
Daniel Rossen and Cormac O'Regan the goalscorers. In the quarter finals
Chorleywood Red put up some dogged resistance to take the match to penalties but
keeper Will Crafts pulled off some stunning saves for the lads to deservedly win
through. Croxley Guild were their semi final opponents and it took an extra time
goal from Hal Maher to settle the close affair, only for the boys to face Echoes
again in the final.
Despite Kane Thomas suffering from the heat the boys turned up the tempo, and
Oliver got the first half opener which he slid under the diving keeper, after
good work by Jack. With Laurence Wroe dominant in defence the Croxley boys
didn't get a sniff of the St Albans goal and substitute Cormac killed off their
hopes with a thunderous winner. 'Scotland bound' Captain Ross Davies, collected
the latest piece of silverware for team Manager Simon Marjarom's ever-expanding
trophy cabinet.
U9A: Will Crafts; Laurence Wroe, Ross Davies, Hal Maher; Jack McNamara, Cormac
O'Regan, Daneil Rossen; Oliver Marjarom, Kane Thomas.
