PRESENTATION NIGHT 2003

With a record number of the clubs older teams being presented, this was a night to remember for the members of St Albans City Youth Football Club.

Attending this years event was, Mr Kerry Pollard MP for St. Albans, Mr Malcolm MacMillan, President of St Albans City Youth F.C., Mr John Gibson Chairman of St Albans City and former City Youth Players Greg Deacon and Craig Mackail-Smith.

Charter Standard Awards

City Youth named Herts FA Club of the Year 2003

Representing the Hertfordshire Football Association was Mr Steve Trulock who announced that City Youth have been named as the Herts FA Charter Standard Club of the Year for 2003, City Youth had also recently been award the coveted FA Charter Community Club award, one of only two clubs in Hertfordshire to reach this level. In addition two other County awards were announced Charter Coach of the Year went to Andy Goodchild and Charter Administrator of the Year went to Ian Woods..

Player Awards

Mr Kerry Pollard MP, made the awards for the ‘Players Player of the Season’ for each team:

The next presentations were to mark the commitment shown by players to the club. The awards to players who had made 100 appearances for the club, were presented by the outgoing Chairman Mervyn Morgan to:

Philip Adams, Alex Addison, James Armstrong, Philip Atkins, Ricky Baker, Matthew Breen, James Byrne, Philip Byrne, Scott Corley, Alex Fraser, Jack Gordon, Kevin Hearne, Thomas Hoare, Josh Lamonica, Ruaridh Macphee, Daniel Margot, Kyle Maundrell, Ricky Miller, Edward Ridge, James Rosson, James Smith, Jack Stevens, Luke Street, David Trulock, Carl Vidgen, Andrew Wilde

Then came an award for 200 Appearances to Ben Conrad, this was presented by Malcolm MacMillan, City Youth President:

Sportsman's Dinner Cheque handover

Tonight was the night when the 'BIG' Cheque was handed over to the club, the proceeds from the clubs highly successful Sportsman's Dinner which featured the Famous Arsenal Back Four. The cheque, for £45037, which is for the clubs base project,  was presented to the Club Treasurer William McAulay by David Wray, the clubs new Commercial Manager.

Chairman receives an Ovation

Finally there was a surprise presentation to the Clubs outgoing Chairman Mervyn Morgan, who after seven years at the helm is standing down to concentrate on business interests. The club president Malcolm MacMillan spoke of the outgoing chairman's achievements and leadership during his time in the chair.  Guiding the club to become a registered charity and reaching the pinnacle of youth football by becoming a FA Community Club, the President added that Mervyn in partnership with Paul Kirikal  has also pushed the clubs Base project, which from next season will become a reality. At this point everyone at the Alban Arena rose to give Mervyn a standing ovation.

Kerry Pollard closed the evening by thanking the club for another excellent event.
